Holidays can be healthy too

Who doesn't love holidaying and indulging on those local delicacies?! Sometimes we feel a little guilty when we're not being healthy, right? What happens if we share with you how to have your cake and eat it too when you stay at BIG4 Apollo Bay Holiday Park...

Don't go home feeling bad about indulging in extra calories or unhealthy food you've had while you're on holidays, we've got some great healthy holiday ideas that'll keep your guilty conscience at bay.

Are you the sort of traveller who loves to indulge in the richer foods and then work it off? Then you're going to want to explore our stunning region before you leave. That way your exercise doesn't even feel like exercise - winning!

What to see and do?
Some of the fantastic places you're going to want to explore are the many, many lookouts and waterfalls that are scattered within Apollo Bay, Great Ocean Road tourist tracks and the Otways. Some of our favourites are Crow's Nest lookout, Cape Patton lookout, Triple Falls, Marriners Falls and the beautiful Beauchamp Falls. See them all here.

If these sound right up your alley, then you're going to want to check out our Special Offers.

After a bit more adventure?
If you're more of the adventurous type, then why not enjoy nature from a different perspective? Climb 6 flights of stairs and take a walk with the clouds with the Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. The Otway Fly Treetop Walk is a 1-hour rainforest walk along 600m long, 30m high steel structured treetop canopy walk that you're just going to love!

Or perhaps you'd rather stay close the ground? Then weave through national parks and deserted beaches on the Great Ocean Walk. You can take a short walk or go for 3, 5 or 8 days.

But, if you're more of the type of traveller who just enjoys eating healthy no matter when or where you are, there are some delicious stops you're going to want to make during your stay.

Oh, the food! Glorious food!
Apollo Bay is renowned for fresh seafood, farms, markets and delightful cafes and restaurants. One of our favourites is the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse where they cater for all different tastes but there are many other places to eat. You should ask the girls at reception for their favourites!

Each week Apollo Bay plays host to several markets. Enjoy the freshest possible produce at the Apollo Bay Farmer's Market on the third Sunday of the month from 9am to 1pm at the Youth Club, 19-21 Moore Street. The Southern Otways Food Cooperative is run in conjunction with the Apollo Bay Farmers Market, every 3rd Sunday of the month from 10am to 1pm.

There are also many excellent fishing opportunities available in the Otway region. Take a look at the Visit Otways Fishing Guide and how to obtain a Fishing License in Victoria, which also has some top spots to fish at.

Combine your healthy holiday with buying holiday gifts for family and friends at the Apollo Bay Community Market, which is on most Saturdays throughout the year stocked with quality handmade wares and produce from the local area. Head down to the Apollo Bay foreshore from 8.30am to 1pm.

Local produce, unique crafted food and drinks, can be found at Tastes of the Region - a provedore of regional produce, located behind the Brewhouse, 1 McLaren Parade, Apollo Bay.
