Please read this very important information about spotting koalas on the Otway Coast.
Apollo Bay has town koalas and they can often been seen walking around town. They were born here and are used to seeing humans, however, please note the following:
- If you see a koala in distress or injured, or see a small Joey on its own, or see a koala on the beach, call Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300 immediately.
- Koalas often walk on the ground from tree to tree. Give them space and respect
- Do not attempt to touch koalas, they will bite and have sharp claws
- It's ok to photograph them but keep your distance
Thanks for being considerate of our koalas here in Apollo Bay and we hope you see a few during your stay.
Another great place to see koalas in the wild is along the Great Ocean Walk, find out more here.
